In this revolutionary diet book, Ori Hofmekler addresses the millions of overweight and obese individuals who have failed or are disappointed with other diets-those who suffer from yoyo dieting, weight gain rebounds, or accumulation of stubborn fat in the belly and other estrogen-sensitive areas. Focusing on our current over-exposure to estrogenic chemicals in the environment, foods, and water, The Anti-Estrogenic Diet provides a practical solution to fat gain, estrogen-related disorders (PMS, endometriosis, fibrocystic disease), and increased risk of common cancers in women and men (breast, ovarian, cervical, prostate). Allowing you to still enjoy your favorite foods, the program is based on incorporating anti-estrogenic foods, spices, and herbs into your diet, while eliminating estrogenic foods and chemicals. Exposing dietary myths and fallacies, Hofmekler teaches readers that some foods commonly regarded as ''healthy'' may actually be harmful and vice versa. Special chapters dedicated to readers with different needs and health conditions, recipes, a question-and-answer section, and a list of scientific references are also included in this valuable resource.

No doubt, estrogen dominance is an important health concern and this author deserves thanks for writing a book on this topic. Some good information in this book includes that many low carb protein bars are made with soy products or whey protein isolate (sourced from pregnant cows) and both have a high estrogen content. Information that is not correct includes that Flax and Beans are recommended dietary staples in this book, and in fact, they are very high in estrogen. Not mentioned is that sesame seeds and sunflower seeds are reportedly among the highest estrogen foods. The author begins the book by saying he is in excellent health and does not work at his diet (snacks in front of the tv, etc.) yet he is in excellent health. Well, by the end of the book, I thought this was one of the most complicated diets I have ever read. Sadly, it needs to be. Estrogen makes animals (and people) fat or is directly related to cancer. We need to know what foods have estrogen in them, but there is no labeling standard for this. Books like this help us understand the problem, but the solution is a much more complex.(I upgraded my original review from 3 stars to 4 stars having heeded the author's advice to add a daily potassium supplement, which I found useful)Product details

The AntiEstrogenic Diet How Estrogenic Foods and Chemicals Are Making You Fat and Sick Ori Hofmekler 9781525242250 Books Reviews
A good read for those interested in their diets.
Informative with tools I can incorporate into my own diet.
Being a woman myself and have been observing the effects/symptoms many of my girlfriends had and having, have led me to look into estrogen and its effects. This book has helped me understand much more and how to go anti-estrogen. Has helped me to choose food wisely, that I know will support my health.
I know this is the best diet for me, I have been successful using Ori's Warrior Diet in the past and I needed to read this to re-motivate myself. I'm glad I read Warrior Diet first to really understand the under eating and overeating phases, if I hadn't, I don't think I would have been convinced by the AE Diet. The layout was a bit disjointed. I think this is such valuable information, but I can't see this book convincing people to this way of eating. I definitely recommend reading Warrior Diet first.
This book contains very good research, Ori definitely did his homework there.
I however found this book a little disjointed and not very fluant to read. All of the facts and steps are in this book to explain how and why you should follow his diet but they just do not flow together.
I do feel that higher estrogen levels are causing many health issues and this is a very important topic that needs to be researched much further. This book has just been the starting point for me to clean up my diet and get to reading further into this subject.
I've read three of Ori Hofmekler's books and I probably would not have read this one except it intrigued me and I enjoyed the other two. Gave me something to think about (and, no, it's not written for women). His approach smacks contrary to what others teach about fitness, but it works. I am 69 years old and have worked out most of my life. But, the advancing age caused me some challenges e.g. fat gain and loss resulting from refined carbs in my diet, and they seemed to have been resolved by Ori's protocol because it is working.
I use concepts from Ori Hofmeklers books in combanation with "PACE" by Dr Al Sears, "Eat Right For Your Type" by Dr D'Adamo and "The Edge Effect" by Dr Eric Braverman. Some of his Ideas seem unorthidox but are actually very old, while the diet at the time had a different name, my grandfather basicly used the same program with only slight veriations and was able to keep the body of a 20yld until age 59 (died of asbestus induced lung cancer). He came across this similer program as a teenager in mexico. My mother (now 58) was able to keep a six pack until her eighth child and is still able to lift far more and is far healthier than your average 30yld; and I have fallowed in their foot steps using the same program with similer results. So while this, "The Anti-estrogenic Diet", or his other books "The Worrior Diet" and "Maximum Muscle, Minimum Fat" are not the end all, be all of diet and nutrition, I can say from the perspective of three generations that, at least for those with a similer genetic make-up, that it does work and can be made even more effective with any addition that further customizes its process to your individual needs with Hofmeclers dietary methods acting as a base.
As for anti-estrogen, with the advent of the soy bean as "the ultimate super food" that the health food industry and government has labeled it (In 1920 soy milk was rejected as a bonding meterial for cardboard as the FDA feared that children might play with the boxes - The Whole Soy Story The Dark Side of America's Favorite Health Food) estrogen and the resulting diseases cuased by excess estrogen have become pandemic. This along high exposure to other environmental toxins has become an incredable burden on our livers. Hofmeklers book not only addresses estrogen inthe diet but also liver detox and food sensitivity, even if his advice to eliminate estrogen from the diet were to be ignored the remaining 2/3 of his method would still have an incredably high impact on resolving any health issues.
No doubt, estrogen dominance is an important health concern and this author deserves thanks for writing a book on this topic.
